For a sportsperson, it is a mighty confidence boost when your coach/mentor shows a great deal of faith in you. Sadly, the opposite is also true. It psychologically affects a person when they don’t get that vibe from the coach/teacher.

During school, I was not very keen on sports until the 11th standard, when my school appointed a new Physical Education teacher. That was the turning point in my life. He encouraged me to pursue athletics and within just one year, I was out there playing state-level tournaments.

Another such instance happened during my UG final year. Our college team had gone for a tournament where all of us were competing for individual events. It was on the last day of the tournament when our director told us that the team would also be participating in the relay race. All of us were worried how we will fare at such a short notice. But, our director believed in us and convinced us to take the plunge. He was right. We won the gold medal in the relay race.

I work with EduSports as a Team Support now and try my best that all the students get their fair share of attention and encouragement in the right direction.
